Fits models: Kaowool ceramic fiber blanket that is 1" thick and 24" wide. Rated to 2600F.
Size: Sold per foot. Cut from a roll that is 1" thick and 24" wide.
Using it: Kaowool is used to line the doors and edges of electric/gas kilns, as door gaskets or in some alternative firing practices. Rated to 2600F but not recommended to exceed 2400F. Recommended to wear gloves and mask when cutting and installing Kaowool.
Kaowool is a type of ceramic fiber insulation made from spun alumina-silica, engineered to withstand extremely high temperatures, typically up to 2300–2600 °F (1260–1430 °C). Its fibers form a lightweight, porous mat that traps air, dramatically reducing heat transfer, which is why it’s so effective in kilns, furnaces, and forges. Scientifically, the material’s low thermal conductivity comes from both the ceramic composition, which resists melting, and the fibrous structure, which limits convection and conduction, allowing high temperatures to be contained safely while keeping the exterior relatively cool. This combination of thermal stability and insulation efficiency is what makes Kaowool a staple in high‑temperature engineering applications.
